Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty
The nose is the centre of the face and fulfils many important tasks. A nose job may be necessary if you have difficulty breathing, smelling and secretions cannot drain properly. But there may also be aesthetic reasons why you are considering a nose job.
Nose surgery is a very demanding operation that requires a lot of sensitivity. During the consultation, the doctor will inform you about all the possibilities and risks of this surgery. The correction will be discussed in detail and any questions will be answered.
Rhinoplasty can be performed using two different techniques.
The specialist will decide together with you which procedure will be used, then the modelling of your nose can begin.
Procedure nose operation
This operation is usually performed under general anaesthesia. Rhinoplasty can be performed using two different techniques:
Nose surgery on the bone:
Reduction of the overall size of the nose
Removal of the bump on the bridge of the nose
Shortening the length of the nose
The cartilage nose operation
Shaping the tip of the nose
Reduction of the nostrils
Reduction of the protruding nose tip

Closed rhinoplasty:
With this procedure, the incision is made inside the nose. This means that no visible scars remain and the stitches are self-dissolving. Access is through the nostrils.
Open rhinoplasty:
The open variant is usually used for more complex procedures or for secondary corrections of the nose. This method can also be used for a past hernia. In this case, the incision is made on the nasal bridge between the two nostrils to ensure that the scar is barely visible
Rhinoplasty on cartilage
The cartilage tissue is soft and can therefore be easily shaped into the desired form. A small incision is made on the outside of the nostrils and sutured to the inside of the nose.
After the nose operation
For a nose correction on the bone, two nights are scheduled in the clinic. For a cartilage rhinoplasty, the procedure is performed on an outpatient basis. After discharge from the clinic, you will receive aftercare instructions to support the healing process.
