Breast augmentation
Your path to more self-confidence
If you're thinking about changing your breast size, you're not alone. Many women want breast augmentation to improve their well-being and self-confidence. In this article, you can find out everything you need to know about the procedure, the benefits and what you should know before making your decision. By the way: breast augmentation is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures worldwide. So you are not alone in your desire and it is absolutely fine and understandable that you want to feel comfortable in and with your body.
What is breast augmentation?
Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure in which the volume of the breasts is increased using implants or autologous fat. The aim is to achieve a harmonious and aesthetic result that suits your individual body shape.
Typical reasons for breast augmentation are
- Asymmetrical breasts
- Loss of breast volume after pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Genetically caused small breasts
- Desire for a aesthetic improvement of the appearance
- Increase in the Self-esteem and self-confidence
What methods of breast augmentation are available?
Breast implants for breast augmentation
The most common method of breast augmentation is the insertion of breast implants. These are usually made of silicone or saline solution. Silicone implants are particularly popular as they offer a natural feel and look. The size and shape of the implants can be customised.
Advantages of breast augmentation with breast implants:
- Improved self-confidence: Many women report increased self-esteem and self-confidence after breast augmentation, especially if they felt uncomfortable with their breast size.
- Body proportions: Breast augmentation can help to harmonise body proportions, which can improve overall appearance.
- Clothing options: Breast augmentation can be a good reason for a shopping trip. With the new proportions you can wear different clothes or new swimwear, many women find that after the procedure various tops or bikinis simply fit better and/or look more attractive.
- Recovery after pregnancy or weight loss: Many women opt for breast augmentation especially after pregnancy or significant weight loss. They want to restore their original appearance or simply feel comfortable in their own body again.
- Correction of asymmetries: Breast augmentation can correct asymmetries and improve the overall appearance.
- Push-up effect: With round implants, the breasts can look fuller at the top, creating a "push-up effect". This can emphasise the décolleté and make wearing certain tops more attractive.
Disadvantages of breast augmentation with breast implants:
- Surgical risks: As with any surgical procedure, there are risks such as infection, bleeding, scarring and other complications.
- Recovery time: Recovery after breast augmentation can take several weeks, during which physical activity must be restricted. Pain and swelling are also common.
- Compression bra: You have to wear a support bra for a few weeks to achieve optimum results
- Implant complications: Breast implants can cause complications over time, such as rupture or capsular fibrosis.
- Aesthetic changes over time: With age, changes in body weight or after pregnancy, the breasts can change and then look different than desired.
- Costs: Breast augmentation can be very expensive, and bras and/or some tops may no longer fit and you may have to buy new clothes.
Breast augmentation with own fat
In this method, fatty tissue is taken from other parts of the body (e.g. abdomen or thighs) and injected into the breast. This technique is particularly suitable for women who want moderate augmentation and do not want any foreign bodies in their body.
Advantages of breast augmentation with autologous fat:
- Natural look and feel: Because autologous fat is used, the breasts feel and look more natural compared to silicone implants.
- No foreign body: Since no artificial implants are used, there is a lower risk of complications associated with implants, such as capsular fibrosis.
- Double the benefits of liposuction: Fat is removed from other areas of the body, which can lead to a slimmer contour in those areas. This means you can benefit twice in one operation, fat removal and breast augmentation.
- Less scarring: The incisions for fat injection are usually very small, resulting in less visible scarring compared to the larger incisions required for implants.
- Customisability: The amount of fat transferred can be precisely adjusted to achieve the desired volume and shape
- No risk of material failure: Implants can shift or rupture, but this risk does not exist with breast augmentation with autologous fat.
Disadvantages of breast augmentation with autologous fat:
- Unpredictable results: Some of the transplanted fat may be reabsorbed by the body, leading to an unpredictable result. This may mean that several sessions may be required to achieve the desired result.
- Asymmetry: There is a risk that the breasts will appear asymmetrical after the procedure, as fat absorption may be uneven.
- Higher risk of infection: Because autologous fat has to be harvested from different parts of the body, there are several areas of the body where complications could occur.
- Longer recovery time: As fat is suctioned from different parts of the body and transplanted into the breast, the recovery time can take longer than with breast augmentation with implants.
- Cost: As several sessions may be necessary, the total cost may be higher than with other methods of breast augmentation.
- Not suitable for everyone: This method may not be suitable for particularly slim women, as they may not have enough excess fat available.

How much does breast augmentation cost? What is the price of breast augmentation in Germany?
Breast augmentation costs from around €5,000-8,000 in renowned clinics in Germany. Breast surgery abroad can be considerably cheaper, partly due to lower wages. We offer breast augmentation in Turkey and breast augmentation in the Czech Republic by experienced and qualified doctors from our clinic partners.
Will the cost of a breast augmentation be covered by my health insurance?
As this is an aesthetic procedure, the costs are unfortunately not usually covered by health insurance.
What does breast augmentation in Turkey cost?
Breast surgery in Turkey is possible from around €3,500 and is therefore cheaper than in Germany and most other European countries. However, you do not have to compromise on medical care. The doctors at our partner clinics are all experienced and very well trained.
How much does breast augmentation cost in the Czech Republic?
You can expect to pay from €3,500 for breast surgery in the Czech Republic. Here, too, you can save a lot compared to many other European countries. However, you do not have to compromise on medical care. The doctors at our partner clinics are all experienced and very well trained. Did you know, for example, that the authorisation criteria for plastic surgery in the Czech Republic are extremely strict and that surgeons are only allowed to perform cosmetic surgery after 7 years of additional training? In Germany, any surgeon is authorised to do this without further training.
What are the risks of breast surgery?
As with any surgical procedure, there are also risks associated with breast augmentation. Possible complications include
- Infections (we personally check each of our clinic partners for compliance with hygiene standards)
- Capsular fibrosis, i.e. hardening of the tissue around the implant (our partner clinics always use high-quality breast implants)
- Implant transfers (the doctors at our partner clinics are full professionals and very experienced in breast surgery)
- Scarring (controlled aftercare is part of our compulsory programme)
What about aftercare and the healing process following breast surgery?
After the operation, you should allow yourself sufficient rest and avoid physical exertion. A wellness or relaxation holiday in the country of our partner clinic is a good idea. A special support bra helps to stabilise the breasts during the healing phase. The final results are usually visible after a few weeks or months when the swelling has subsided.
Is breast augmentation right for you?
If you are considering breast augmentation, it is important to be well informed.
Think about the following aspects:
- Your own gut feeling: Think about what you want and how you want to feel after the procedure.
- Health: Discuss possible health risks with a medical specialist.
- Long-term decision: Breast augmentation is a permanent decision. Make sure you are ready for this step.
